Robert Agnew BSc, MBA

Rob has 15 years experience in the financial services and technology industries. In his last position before joining Matrix he was Director for Reuters Group plc asset management business in Asia. Previously, he has led the finance function for Reuters for the Greater China region. He has successfully conducted a range of business development projects including a distribution arrangement in China, content deals in HK and a joint venture partnership.
He has lived and worked in Asia for more than 10 years.

Commercially-minded senior business development and operations executive with a proven track record of success in the media, publishing and technology industries in Asia. He has a strong ability to get projects done on time, within budget and to a successful conclusion.  His role is focused on ensuring the delivery consulting products and on client liaison.

Some successful projects included:

• Identification of and commercial due diligence on partners and acquisition targets for a media company.
• Research into the Chinese enterprise and consumers market spaces with a focus on the developing a short to medium term strategy to grow this international media companies publishing brands.
• Research to provide in-depth insight into the Chinese personal wealth management industry for the growing affluent Chinese and high net-worth classes and make recommendations on which trends and new business are appropriate for our client.
• Research on the long term savings market in Taiwan and South Korea for a European insurance company. Key deliverables included market size, key drivers, competitor analysis, regulatory environment and outlook.

He has also advised a number of venture capital firms on their approach to the Asian media and technology markets. He has a Masters in Business Administration, Edinburgh Business School and a Doctoral candidate at the University of South Australia’s International Graduate School of Management. His research project is titled “What are the critical factors that determine the success of foreign institutional investment companies in China and India?” Also he is the published author of the book “A Capital Guide to the Chinese Investment Management Industry in China”

Lisa Tsang LLB, MSc

Lisa has six years experience in information technology and systems. She has worked on a number of projects for Deutsche Bank and others in the asset management space.

She is a graduate of Huddersfield University in the UK and holds a Masters in Computer Science from Birkbeck College, University of London.

Associates

Yi Hua BSc, MBA

Hua Yi has in-depth knowledge of the civil aviation and telecom industries, having worked in various functions including engineering, technology management, sourcing and financial analysis. Previously, he worked for Alcatel in China, where he was responsible for sourcing main production equipment and localisation, whilst establishing an effective intercommunication channel for the China sourcing team with Alcatel Sourcing, headquartered in Paris.

He is a graduate of Beijing University in aeronautics and astronautics and holds electric engineering diploma and MBA from University of Hong Kong. Also he was awarded the title of Distinction Graduate by the University of Hong Kong.

Kathy Zeng BA

Kathy has over five years professional experience in administration, training, and marketing research. Before joining Matrix, she worked for GMI in China, one of the largest online marketing research companies, headquartered in the US. There she was responsible for panelist management, monitored and undertook market research projects in IT, banking and other industries. Also she was in charge of cooperation with other Asian marketing research companies and local partners.

She is a graduate of Harbin University of Commerce in business English.

Leanne Wee BA, AACA

Leanne has eight years of working experience in finance and audit within the accounting and financial services industries. Her experience gained within finance is well diversified with external and internal audits and business analysis. She also has international experience having worked in regional positions in London and Singapore. Her main expertise is in the line of internal controls and process improvements.

Leanne is a graduate in Accountancy and Finance from University of Western Australia and is an Australian qualified Chartered Accountant.

Hiten Dedhia BComm, MBA

Hiten is a Manager at Adventity and has over five years experience in consulting and business research. Prior to that, he worked with a leading management consulting firm in India as a senior consultant on various strategy, operations and organisation consulting assignments. Hiten has worked on project across various sectors including logistics, energy, automobiles, engineering, retail and financial services. A few marquee assignments that Hiten was instrumental in leading include pre-takeover operations due diligence and post-merger integration of a leading global port operator in the Middle East and identifying and screening potential investment targets for a global private equity firm.

Ruhal Gupta BComm, MBA

Rahul is a Senior Analyst at Adventity and has over four years experience in business research and advisory. He has worked on assignments across various sectors including banking, financial services, insurance, automotives, information services and education. Prior to his current position, Rahul worked with a leading KPO firm in India as a business analyst in the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) vertical and with Kotak Mahindra Bank, a leading private sector bank in their retail branch banking operations. He has a very strong understanding of the BFSI sector from his previous tenure in the industry.

Rahul holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce and an MBA in Finance (Major) from ICFAI (Gurgaon)

Senior Advisors

David Newton BA, ASIA, FCA

David is one of the founders of Matrix Services. He is the CFO for LexisNexis in Asia. Previously, he was the Asian Finance Director for the FT, as well as having 17 years experience in the financial information and media business. In his last position at Reuters, he was Head of Finance for Reuters Group plc’s corporate and media business in Asia. His other main roles prior to that were to set up and run a business analysis function for the Reuters Marketing function across the Asia region in the mid to late 1990s, and to lead a systems based programme to improve operational efficiency in the finance and administration functions in the early to mid 1990s. He has lived and worked in Asia for 13 years.

David read mathematics at Oxford University, he is a KPMG qualified Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, England and Wales; and an Associate of the Securities Institute of Australia.

Jun J. Wu PhD, MBA

Jun has in-depth knowledge about the healthcare industry, having worked in various functions including technology management, market research, business development and financial analysis. He has recently worked on consulting projects that include due diligence in the financial services industry, sourcing for Western manufacturing companies in China and a partnership in the biopharmaceutical industry. He has lived and worked in the USA, Norway, France, Singapore and China.

He is a graduate of University of Science & Technology of China, holds a PhD degree from Columbia University and an MBA from INSEAD.
